Through The Keyhole

Through the Keyhole is a British TV comedy panel show hosted by Keith Lemmon (Leigh Francis). The panel show, shows Keith Lemmon going through celebrity homes and involves the guest panel having to guess who the house belongs to.

This show is a hybrid of a quiz and panel show and was adapted from the old 1980s mainstream 'through the keyhole' that was less comedic and more serious. By mocking the old show, Keith Lemmon brings in a bigger audience demographic and makes the programme appeal more to a modern audience.

Who commissioned the programme?
It was commissioned by ITV in 2013. ITV is a British television channel that stands for 'Independent television' that covers the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Who Produced it?
It was produced by the commercial station, ITV. The producers where Meriel Beale, Arron Ferster, Isabel Forte, Aaron Morgan, Juliet Morrish, Mark Boutros, Daniel Baldwin, Leon Wilson, James Longman, Ed Sleeman and others.

What audience is it aimed at? Why?
The audience is mainly targeted at a younger audience however it could also appeal to an older audience who remember the old version of the show. Also, because this show combines elements of the show 'Celebrity Juice' and relies on celebrity endorsement (e.g. Scarlet Mofat from 'Goggle Box' and 'I'm a celebrity Get me Out of Here') it brings in a more niche audience that prefer vulgar, brash humour that is unique to the programmes (and celebrities associated with them) on the channel ITV. Due to this it creates a small audience demographic in the categories D and E.

Why is it on at that time and on that channel? Link to 'type' of comedy and target audience.
'Through the Keyhole' is on Thursdays at 10pm. It is on at this time because of its target audiences' age range (18-30). Therefore, it is commissioned after the 'watershed' as the explicit content of the humour (suited for a panel game show) would be inappropriate for younger viewers. 'Through the Keyhole' is on the commercial station ITV because of its reliance of celebrity endorsement and carefree/explicit humour (to create Transgressive pleasures and specific performers/personalities pleasures). This type of humour is usually suited for ITV viewers as the throw away jokes are easy to interpret and are linked to current affairs and gossip, which this young target audience are likely to be aware of and find humorous.

It is on after the 'watershed'. Why?
It is on after the 'watershed' because  of its 18-30 year old target audience. This means that there is energetic and explicit adult humour on this show that is conventional to comedy panel game shows like 'Through the Keyhole'. So, this would be inappropriate for younger audiences that watched comedy programmes before the 9:00pm watershed when the humour is more suitable for them.
