Celebrity Juice

Who Commissioned the Programme?
It was commissioned by ITV in 2008. ITV is a British television channel that stands for 'Independent television' that covers the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Who produced it?
Celebrity Juice was produced by Talkback Thames for the first seven series. Talkback Thames was a division of FremantleMedia and was a British television production company that was formed by the merger of Talkback Productions and Thames Television. After series seven it was then produced by Talkback. Talkback is a British television production company that was established in 1981.

What audience is it aimed at? Why?
Celebrity Juice is aimed at a 18-35 year old target audience. This is due to the explicit and adult humour which is unsuitable for younger audiences. Furthermore, this humour is based around an energetic and enthusiastic panel show which wouldn't appeal to an audience older than 35. Also, this programme is not gender specific so the humour is universal and appeals to both genders (so larger target audience).

Why is it on at that time and on that channel? Link to 'type' of comedy and target audience.
Celebrity Juice is on at 10:00pm, after the watershed, on ITV2. It is on after the watershed because the format of the comedy (panel game show) means that the humour is very explicit and inappropriate for younger audiences. Furthermore, the programme is on ITV2 because it appeals more to the age range of their target audience as the scheduling slot is after various celebrity programmes (like "Olly - Life On Murs") which are usually associated with ITV2 as the channel focuses a great deal on celebrity orientated programmes, re-runs and American imports.

Is it on after the watershed? Why?
This programme is on after the watershed because of its 18-35 year old target audience. This means that there is energetic and explicit adult humour on this show that is conventional to comedy panel game shows like 'Celebrity Juice'. So, this would be inappropriate for younger audiences that watched comedy programmes before the 9:00pm watershed when the humour is more suitable for them.

What is the audience demographic?
The target audience is aimed at the E to C2 audience demographic. This is because the 18-35 year old audience fits into these categories of occupation and will more likely have a higher interest in the rude and adult humour found in this type of late comedy panel game show as well as the genre that tends to be the focus of ITV2 channels.
